Inside Cher Horowitz’s Clueless Home: 90s Glam Decoded

If one movie shaped my aspirations of being an interior designer growing up, it was Clueless. While most people remember the plaid skirts, matching sets, and the “Ugh, as if!” moments, I was mesmerized by the house. The grand entry, the sweeping staircase, the bedroom and that closet. The high-tech, rotating, outfit-picking closet and computer program (yes, program, not app) that blew my teenage mind.
Now, 30 years later (that’s T-H-I-R-T-Y!), Clueless still lives rent-free in my head. Not just for the fashion, but for the interiors that felt both aspirational and kind of attainable. With the 90s decor trending again, it feels like the perfect time to revisit the house that launched my love of design and how to bring its style into 2025.
Why the Clueless Look Still Hits, 30 Years Later
When we think of 90s interiors today, our minds often jump to Tuscan kitchens or inflatable furniture. But Clueless gave us something entirely different: understated glam with a California-cool edge. The Horowitz home mixed traditional architecture of grand moldings, marble floors, gilded accents with playful, feminine touches that kept it fresh.
Cher’s bedroom was peak soft glam: a muted blush palette, tufted upholstery, and a canopy bed that somehow felt classic and cool. Her closet? A tech-lover’s dream, with color-coded racks, rotating systems, and shoes displayed like art.
The whole house was a masterclass in balance: luxe but never overdone, feminine without being juvenile. It mirrored Cher’s world perfectly: stylish, structured, and way ahead of its time.

CHer’s bedroom
This bedroom was peak 90s teen fantasy drenched in pink but somehow stylish because it was balanced with whites. It nailed that sweet spot: feminine, a little glam, but totally livable. The Adirondack chair was such a fun and unexpected twist.
Details Worth Copying:
- Layered Flooring: carpet on accent rug or large area rug with accent rug.
- Bedding: Ruffle details in muted shades for a more grown-up feel
- Accent Chair: A playful, out-of-left-field chair that keeps the room interesting

CHER’s WALK-in Closet
The famous closet was THE main character for me. Sorry, Cher. My teenage self could only dream of a space like this. Every time a closet scene came on, my heart skipped a beat!
Details Worth Copying:
- Wallpaper: Tonal with subtle print.
- Cabinet/Shelving: Display shoes and bags as art.
- Statement Seating: Chair or pouf with fringes or in an animal print fabric.

Living room & breakfast area
The living room nails that easy west coast vibe with the neutral gray and white tones, crisp white upholstery, and just enough polish to feel chic without trying too hard. This makes for the perfect backdrop for the colorful artworks and sculptural accessories to shine.
And then there’s the informal dining area (or breakfast area) peeking out in the background. For all the Nancy Meyers fans, this is your vibe! The slipcovered chairs with the bow ties, round wood pedestal table, and a traditional shaded chandelier overhead are the perfect combo. And just wait until you spot that charming hutch cabinet below in the kitchen shot below…
Details Worth Copying:
Living Room
- Warm White Sofa: Classic, comfy, and easy to keep fresh with throw pillows
- Colorful Art Prints: Bold, modern prints to add contrast against the neutral backdrop.
- Sculptural Decor: Ceramic vases, large abstract objects, or geometric candleholders.
Informal Dining/Breakfast Area
- Round Wood Pedestal Table: Perfect for small gatherings with a timeless feel.
- Slipcovered Chairs with Tie Backs: That casual, lived-in elegance Nancy Meyers is known for.
- Shaded Chandelier: A soft fabric or pleated shade chandelier to bring warmth and character.

kitchen
The kitchen doesn’t get as much love as Cher’s closet, but it’s a standout. The black countertops create a sharp contrast with the white cabinets (not shown), and the cane back with carved distressed wood frame counter stools bring in just enough texture. Of course, the oversized industrial fridge looks perfectly at home here.
I love the small piece of art in a gilded ornate frame because it’s a stark contrast next to the fridge. And what did I tell you about that hutch in the background? Hands down my favorite piece in the house!
Details Worth Copying:
- Kitchen Countertop: Black stone countertops (or black quartz).
- Counter Stools: Cane or rattan to add warmth to the space
- Art: Small art with ornate frame (which we see in Cher’s bedroom too)

FORMAL DINING ROOM
We don’t get a ton of screen time with the dining area, but from what we do see, it carries the same formal elegance as the rest of the house. The palette sticks to soft grays and whites, with accent colors coming from the artworks and the green tabletop with the green chairs). Noticing a theme here?
Details Worth Copying:
- Dining Table and Chairs: A marble or glass tabletop paired with velvet or mohair upholstered chairs.
- Tabletop Decor: metal and glass candlesticks or centerpieces.
- Statement Lighting: A swaggy or sculptural chandelier.

Grand Staircase
The moment you see the sweeping staircase and marble floors, you know you’re in Beverly Hills. The entry set the tone: airy, polished, and just a little bit over the top.
Details Worth Copying:
- Statement lighting: crystal chandeliers or oversized pendants.
- Gilded mirrors to bounce light and add drama.
- LOTS of Plants

Dad’s home office
I’m a sucker for a moody library, and this one checks all the boxes. The dark wood-paneled walls, that green leather Chesterfield sofa, and the rich red-and-green palette could easily feel like Christmas if done wrong. But here, it just works. It feels classic, cozy, and perfectly pulled together.
Details Worth Copying:
- A dark green or brown leather sofa with classic tufting.
- Wood whether it’s paneling or a big statement bookcase.
- A patterned rug in red or deep tones to ground the room.

This movie didn’t just open my eyes to fashion, it also shaped how I saw design. It made me love soft, feminine details and homes with personality but also polished. Thirty years later, I still draw on it whenever I want a space to have that main character energy.
Clueless may be 30, but the style is still timeless. For me, at least!
